Forest YMCA is a complex of residential units comprising the main 8-storey Tower Block and adjacent buildings. This provides immediate short-term and substantial long-term bedsit facilities and associated social, catering, health and welfare centres.

The complex is currently undergoing a multi-million pound improvement programme to upgrade the bedrooms to provide a clean modern environment with facilities comparable to those found in major hotel chains.

Throughout the project it has been necessary to maintain use of the premises and minimise disruption to the operation of the building and disturbance to the residents. To assist in speedy upgrade of the accommodation units the shower/WC/washroom facilities for each unit were designed and manufactured off-site for quick plug-in to the infrastructure.

The accommodation upgrade is now almost complete and a start has been made on the associated facilities, management suites, kitchen and cafeteria upgrades, Sports England standard sports hall, gym, dance studio, function rooms and common facilities.

The project has been an excellent example of cooperation and team working between the Client, the Consultants lead by Robert Kilgour Associates, and the main contractor, Kind & Co.
